Holland Lloyd is a planning consultancy working with homeowners, landowners and developers, founded by a chartered town planner. This was the firm’s very first website for a new business venture, and it needed to establish credibility from nothing and bring in the right enquiries. We designed and built it as a web design project.
The brief
A new consultancy has no track record online, so its website has to do the work that years of reputation would otherwise do. Holland Lloyd needed a site that explained planning services clearly to two very different audiences, homeowners extending or converting a property and landowners or developers with commercial schemes, and that presented the founder’s chartered status and experience as the reason to trust the firm.
The brief was a professional first website that could grow with the business and start generating project enquiries straight away.
What we did
We structured the site around the two audiences, with a Homeowners page and a Commercial page for landowners and developers, plus a Consultation page explaining how an initial discussion works. The home page introduces the core services, sets out why the firm is worth choosing and tells the story of the business and its founder.
A Recent Projects section gives the consultancy somewhere to build a portfolio as work completes, and a blog was set up with practical planning guides for the local authorities the firm works in most, which both helps clients and gives the site relevant content for search.
Contact details are in the header on every page, with the phone number clickable on mobile, and the site closes with a direct prompt to discuss a project. Google reviews and logos of businesses the firm works with were added as they came in, so the site gathers proof over time.
Why it works
Splitting the site by audience means a homeowner and a developer each read content written for them rather than a general planning page. The founder’s credentials are front and centre, which is what a client is really buying.
The projects section and blog give a brand-new business a way to look established quickly, and the local planning guides are the kind of content people search for before they need a consultant.
The result
Holland Lloyd now has its first website, a professional, well-structured site that explains its homeowner, commercial and consultation services, presents the founder’s chartered expertise, and has a projects section and blog ready to grow as the business does.
